Rachel Warmath has a unique ‘book shaman’ approach. She can see beneath the surface of what’s on the page, and isn’t afraid to reflect to her clients what they are ready to hear and heal.
She offers trauma-aware coaching sessions so that authors have a safe and contained space to work from, and personalized support along the way. Not only is Rachel thinking about how to make an author’s sentences eloquent, ensure that the chapter organization is effective, and help craft beautiful books… she also wants her clients to have the best possible experience along the way. She sees her clients as whole human beings, with vibrant lives and lots of emotional breakthroughs that will naturally surface during the initiation process of becoming an author.
Unlike many coaches and editors, Rachel has a background in the healing arts and shows up with ideas and insights for how to support you emotionally and energetically on this path to authorhood.

What is a book shaman?
A book shaman is a guide for authors who supports not only the physical process of creating a book, but also the internal transformation that comes along with it. In her book shaman work, Rachel walks between worlds—from this reality into the unseen realms. She works with her spirit guides and those of the author to uncover what the book is asking that author to learn, do, and become in the process.
What is Rachel's background?
Rachel has been writing and storytelling since she was a little girl. She was the girl who won the third grade spelling bee, took both AP Lit and AP Lang at the same time in high school, and spent her senior year as yearbook editor and features section editor for the school paper (even though yearbook and journalism had a rivalry!). She started college at Northwestern University studying journalism but finished her degree in English after getting into the creative writing program for poetry. Rachel’s launch into editing books started when she helped a Northwestern professor organize her chapters for a book on religion and the films of Clint Eastwood. Rachel has a passion for indie publishing and has self-published 6 books. She’s walked the path of becoming an author and understands that it is a complex and emotional journey with many twists and turns.
